Miso soup
I always like to have a tub of miso paste in my fridge, and even the fridge at work! You can buy these at Whole Foods or any Asian grocery store, and they are bottomless. To keep it simple, you can simply add hot water and stir for a comforting bowl of miso soup. To get a little fancy, you can add your favourite vegetables, tofu or tofu noodles, even some prawns or seafood! It’s a great staple and also makes some great vinaigrettes and sauces!

Happy Planet Soups
I have always been a fan of Vancouver based Happy Planet. They make great smoothies, and recently, freshly packaged soups. I rarely buy canned or packaged soups because I am turned off by their ingredients. However these soups are 100% natural, vegetable based, and fresh tasting. My favourite is the Indian Split pea, which I love adding chickpeas and broccoli too for a satisfying lunch on the go!

Vegetable broth + Canned tomatoes
Two soup staples I like to always have in my cupboard, are a good vegetable broth and canned tomatoes. This means that if I want, I can make a hearty soup in less than an hour. I love combining the two together, adding some veggies, chickpeas and spices, and calling it a day. Simple, yet very healthy, tasty and cheap!
