When I first found her blog I literally yelled out to my fiancé”I love this woman! Look how beautiful everything she creates is!” I remember one post where one of Katharina’s friends attributed her beautiful skin and hair to her avocado consumption. If this is true, we should all eat more avocadoes! I’ll let her seduce you from here…
Avocado: the butter pear
My friend from Brazil once told me how strange it was that people put salt on avocados. In Brazil, avocados are typically eaten as a fruit–sprinkling sugar on them instead of incorporating them into savory dishes. They are also often incorporated into milkshakes and sometimes ice cream. Yum! After our conversation I got to thinking, and decided to make a refreshing and simple smoothie recipe using this buttery fruit.
The avocado in the smoothie makes it so creamy and thick! Not to mention, look at the beautiful color! An uplifting and flavorful smoothie is a great drink for the warmer weather, don’t you think? My curiosity was awoken, and I wanted to find out more about how avocados are eaten in other parts of the world. I found out that avocados are mixed with milk, coffee, and rum as a thirst-quenching drink in Indonesia. In the Philippines they are pureed with sugar and milk to make a dessert drink. Apparently, many people around the world enjoy avocados with some sweetness.
As for me, I enjoy avocados either way: salty or sweet. Cheers to that!

- 1½ cups almond milk
- a little over a cup of ice
- 1 avocado
- 1 ripe banana
- 2-4 medjool dates, to your liking
- Pour in the milk and ice cubes into blender. Then slice the banana and avocado in to the blender, and throw in the dates. Mix till smooth.
Do you ever eat avocados as a sweet treat?
