If you’ve been following my recipes lately you know I’ve been trying to cut back on sugar and add more protein into my diet.
And while I’ve been enjoying a summer cocktail here and there, I’ve been doing pretty well, but something has been missing.
My energy has been low and I’ve been starting to reach for pick me up’s like coffee, and even diet coke, which I cut out of my diet with determination years ago.
What has been missing? The protein boost is great, less sugar has helped stabilize my mood, but my body has been crying out for the abundance of fruits and vegetables that it’s used to.
So I’m working on finding my balance. This balance includes an abundance of plants, plant protein, some animal protein, and sugar in the form of fruit (and the occasional glass of wine).
With this in mind, and veggie cravings through the roof. I fixed myself this salad last night.
This salad includes two of my favourite spreads from Sunflower Kitchen: hummus and baba ganoush. Both of these are easy to make yourself, but after a long work day, if you can find them store bought with minimal ingredients it can take a load off.
I also added some sprouted buckwheat, some hemp seeds and dulse for some powerful alkanalizing nutrients.

After devouring this salad with salad, my body whispered “Thank you..” And I said “No problem, peace, love, and happy bodies.”
