This recipe is the poor and healthy man’s fish and chips.

Let’s skip the deep fried coating and skip the expensive white fish and make this a Healthy, Tasty, Cheap recipe why don’t we?

I present to you: spiced tilapia, baked oven fries and peas.  You can serve this to your kids, your husband, your boyfriend or your friends for a quick meal with a side of ketchup and even tartar sauce if you feel like going totally authentic!
fish n chips
Since I used tilapia for this recipe – my super cheap staple – it’s crucial that we spice it up.  Tilapia is really boring on it’s own, but it’s a practical fish that delivers flavour really well.

fish marinade
It helps if you marinade the fish in all of your spices, your oil and your lemon to give it a head start on getting all of that flavour in!

You can use your fries of choice -but I find the Alexia oven fries have great ingredients and make a light side that is super easy to prepare in your oven.  They’re also delicious.
chips
And there you have it – super easy baked fish and chips.  If you like you can also lightly pan fry the tilapia or grill it up for a crispier coating.  If you have a barbecue at home – even better.  Then squeeze some fresh lemon over it and you’re ready to go!
